The sword strikes tactical, minimize messy collateral
Amputate what’s fair, splitting each hair
Symmetrical as a tombstone
With an eye on each side
And a blood red tide
Pile bones in the scale til parallel
Balance death and vengeance
American justice is measured in megatons

Pull the blindfold tight don’t let an image sneak in
won’t be distracted by the faces in the dirt
It’s only fair that I hold onto what’s mine and I won’t touch what’s yours
Easy to say when I can’t see that you have nothing
American justice is measured on a pay scale

We sold the poor for silver now how do we measure the gold standard against the golden rule

I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free
It’s obvious when compared to the imprisoned refugee
This land was made for you and me
Then cut off from the rest of humanity
But Justice doesn’t live in a land of mandated orphans

To remove my blindfold
have to set down this sword and scale
But I clinch them tight
cause that’s where my comfort lies
walk past their beds on the streets
but Keep the focus on me
And I find a way to balance my wants against their needs

Justice doesn’t live in a heart that doesn’t love the broken

But I hear the call to true justice :
“Defend the weak and the fatherless
Uphold the case of the poor and oppressed
Deliver them from the hand of the wicked”

This is not justice
This is just selfish
